About the Concert:
The musical concert showcases some popular compositions from Ramneek's gharana and her own compositions written and composed over the years, spanning different genres of classical and semi classical music. There will be various compositions of Khayal, Tarana, Thumri, Geet and Sufiana in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi in many raags.
Ramneek's pen name is "Ibaadat", which in arabic means "worship". To elaborate, it means prayer or communication with God. As she celebrates her 50th year of life this year, she would like to dedicate this concert to the most important driving force in creating her compositions and her musical journey, "Ibaadat" to the higher being. It has inspired her to be in meditation through her music.
These compositions are a glimpse into Ramneek's spiritual poetry which talks about a connection to the Almighty who has given her this gift of music. She also dedicates her poetry to her grand guru, Ustad Amir Khan whose sublime and meditative gayaki, poetry and research into the history of the original 13th century taranas inspired her to create her compositions. She will be taking up some meaningful compositions of Khan sahib and explain all these.
Ramneek's first album is also called "Ibaadat".
