Event Info
Hollywood Se Bollywood Tak is a laugh-a-minute bilingual comedy-drama that transports you from the quiet suburbs of Ohio to the vibrant streets of Patna, India. Join the Sharma family—Tanuja, Arvind, and their Bollywood-obsessed daughter, Riya—as they navigate the quirks of their American neighbors and embark on a whirlwind trip to India.
This isn’t just a journey across continents; it’s a heartfelt exploration of the tangled roots that bind us to our motherland, even as we grow and thrive in a new homeland. The Sharmas, like many of us, cherish the traditions of their past while embracing the opportunities of their present, often finding themselves caught in the contradictions of living between two worlds.
During their visit, Riya's dream of meeting her favorite Bollywood star sets off a series of wild and unexpected events. Amid the adventures on a chaotic film set, the story spirals into a whirlwind of unpredictable events, where unlikely heroes emerge in the most surprising ways.
Through humor and heart, this tale bridges Indian and American cultures, offering an unforgettable story of family, fame, and the unpredictable twists of life. It’s a journey full of laughter, love, and cultural connections—perfect for anyone who knows the joy and complexity of calling two places home.

About the Playwright
Sanjay Ugadi is an actor, improvisor, and playwright with a deep-rooted passion for theater. He wrote prolifically throughout his early years, earning the moniker "Shakespeare" in school after penning his first play in the 8th grade. Sanjay made his mark on the New Delhi stage, working with the celebrated Barry John in the renowned Theater Action Group and being actively involved in both English and Hindi theater. After a brief hiatus for his MBA, he returned to Delhi's vibrant theater scene, collaborating with Faisal Alkazi. Following another break while pursuing his PhD and publishing in prestigious academic journals, Sanjay reignited his creative side with Dances with Doctors (2017), a staged reading by the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative, featured on WLWT. His short play, Love Me Tinder, was showcased at the Lovefest 10-Minute Play Festival in 2019, and The Fool, an absurd comedy exploring life’s anxieties, followed at Fools Fest in 2020. Hollywood Se Bollywood Tak is his latest work.
