Twenty years since we first opened our doors in Greater Cincinnati, a 501 c3 organization that started with a budget of under $3,000 today has a working working budget of $65,000
Some of our milestones include
- Nrityarpa, under the leadership of its founding director, Anupama Rao Mirle, brought Indian classical dance to more than 75,000 people in the midwest over the past two decades, successfully presenting four dance productions on themes as varied as Smoking, Seasons, Women's Empowerment, and a Visual History of India.
- Nrityarpana has successfully brought the attention of mainstream funding agencies like Ohio Arts Council, ArtsWave and Greater Cincinnati Foundation to understand the importance of art in our community.
- The founder director, Anupama Rao Mirle, received a UNESCO Council of Internation Dance membership in 2007, was identified as a State of Ohio Heritage Award Winner in 2013, completed her MFA in Bharatanatyam from Shasta University in 2016 under the directorship of the legend, Dr. Padma Subramamyam.
- More than 300 students have passed through our doors. 13 students have graduated with more preparing for this milestone.
- The most recent milestone was BLINK 2022, which brought the Indian community together to present two floats representing India in the downtown parade that brought 2 million to the city.
We want to take this opportunity to say thanks to the community and celebrate with the community, sharing our vision for the future. We have a program planned for you and will share information in the next few weeks.
