Roohaniyat presents a series of three lectures exploring Indian contribution to the mathematical heritage of the world.
Summary of lectures Lecture 1: The Genius of Srinivasa Ramanujan. (April 23, 2023; 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm) Lecture 2: Kerala School of Mathematics: the profound 14th century mathematicians. (Aug 20, 2023; 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm) Lecture 3: Panorama of Indian mathematics: from the ancient to the modern. (Nov 5, 2023; 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm)
The first talk will seek to understand the genius of Srinivasa Ramanujan. The self-made mathematician whose breathtakingly original contributions to number theory are still giving us new mathematical insights.The second talk will unfold the story of the 14th century Kerala School of Mathematics who had discovered some basic rules of Calculus centuries before Newton or Leibniz. The third talk will offer a sweeping view of Indian mathematics, from the ancient times such as the discovery of zero, to the modern times with the establishment of research centers in the 20th century.
