Hues of Kathak
Olee Banerjee and Hia Banerjee from Virginia presented a mesmerizing Kathak performance.
Kathak is one of India’s various classical dance forms, and it is the only one that originates from the northern part of India. Olee is a rising high school sophomore and has been learning Kathak from her guru, Arpita Roy, since she was 5 years old. Hia is a rising seventh grader and has been learning Kathak also since she was 5.
Olee and Hia presented the "Hues of Kathak". Each of their performances carried its own unique color which they wished to portray through poetry and pure technical pieces, as well as semi-classical, or more “film-style” Kathak.
