Raag Rang Holiday Concert 2023 Brochure

Welcome to Raag Rang's Holiday concert 2023.  As we wrap up this year we are organizing this fundraising event that will bring to you a mix of performances by talented artists. 
Program Sequence
Let us start with a Ganesh Bhajan by:

Namah Jangid
Namah is a 7th grader and 13 years old. She has been learning Hindustani classical from Indrani Ji for almost a year now. Along with singing, she also does Bharatnatyam and she has a lot of passion for the two.

Pranali Desai
Pranaali Desai is a 9 year old grade 3 student at Scicore Academy. She has been learning Hindustani classical music from Indraniji Chakraborty for two years now and is thoroughly enjoying it.

Arjun Dobhal (on Harmonium)
Arjun is a freshman in high school and a West Windsor resident. He was initiated into music with harmonium and vocal training by his father Deepak Dobhal. Soon after, he started learning hindustani vocal from Smt. Indrani Chakraborty Khare (Disciple of Smt. Mitali Bhawmik) and harmonium from Sh. Kedar Naphade (disciple of Pt. Tulsidas Borkar)
Mrinalini Kaul
Mrinalini Kaul is a sophomore at Mount Olive High School who spends her time in studying and extracurriculars. She has been learning Hindustani classical music for almost 9 years and this is her fifth year learning from Guru Mitali Bhawmik. 
Neha Tolapadi
Neha Tolpadi, a junior at Hillsborough high school has been learning hindustani classical music with Guru Mitali Bhawmik for the past 5 years and absolutely loves it. She also dabbles in western music with her dad on the lead guitar. She is a national level volleyball player and has been earning accolades for the school Varsity team for the past 3 years. 
Raima Bhattacharjee
Raima, an 8th grader, is blessed with musical sense from a very young age, she used to sing even before she started talking with full sentences. Her musical journey began with her father, then she started taking musical lessons from ParthaSarathi Mukhopadhyay at the age of 3. Currently she is learning Indian vocal classical from Smt Mitali Bhowmik and western vocal classical from West Minister Conservatory of Music. She is also a student of the honors music program of West Minister Conservatory of Music. 
Tanisha Kinikar
Tanisha Kinikar is a  student at South Brunswick High School and she is in her sophomore year. She has been learning classical singing from Indrani Chakraborty Ji for 9 years now, and has a profound love for both classical and semi-Bollywood music.
Asmi Haldar
Asmi Haldar is a 6th grader who loves music. She is a part of her school orchestra and plays the viola. She has been learning piano since kindergarten and these days she is helping her mother to learn the harp. In her free time, Asmi loves to cook Korean food and practice K-pop dances.  She also loves to bug her sister.
Atharva Kulkarni
Atharva is a student at The Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music Research, Artistry and Appreciation - the Mewati Gurukul. He has been learning Hindustani classical music from his guru Adarniyaa Smt. Lalita Mathur ji for over a decade. Atharva is also passionate about percussion instruments. He has been learning Tabla for the past 4 years from Guru Shri Suryaksha Deshpande Ji. Atharva believes that Music provides him with an avenue of artistic expression and its divine power allows him to relax and relieve stress in everyday routine. 
Krisha Bhatt
Krisha is a14  years  old passionate singer! She has been learning Hindustani Classical Music for the last 7 years from PJIM and  Vidyapith. She wants to pursue music in her life. 
Aarushi Mehta
Aarushi is 10 years old, in the fifth grade, and has been learning Hindustani Classical music from Smt. Mitali ji Bhawmik for the past 4 years. Aarushi is learning piano and also taking piano RCM certification exams and plays Clarinet for the Intermediate school concert band. 
Maitreyi Mehta
Maitreyi is 13 years old, in the eighth grade, and has been learning Hindustani Classical music from Smt. Mitali ji Bhawmik for the past 7 years. Maitreyi is also learning Kathak for her Madhyama Purna level and plays flute for the middle school concert band. 
Anaisha Kundu
I am Anaisha Kundu. I have a passion for both Western and Indian classical music. I have been diligently taking singing lessons for the past six years under the esteemed guidance of Guru Smt. Mitali Banerjee Bhaumik Ji.  I have been performing with the NJ State Honors Choir for the past two years and I also got selected for Rising Star IAPA 2023. During my free time, I enjoy swimming, dancing, and immersing myself in books.
Shreyansh Singh
Shreyansh is 10 yrs old and has been learning music for the last 3 years. Mitali Bhawmik ji  is his guru for Hindustani classical music. He loves to play different instruments like Guitar, Piano, Violin and harmonium. 
Sagar Deshpande
Sagar's Guru is Dr. Kedar Naphade. Apart from learning and playing harmonium, Sagar is a cellist in Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey. 
Dheem TaNa Dance Academy
Dheem TaNa Dance academy is an institute for learning Kathak, folk and semi classical dances of India. The school is run by Latika Jethani who is a versatile Kathak( Lucknow Gharana) dancer blessed with the spontaneity and devotional intensity that goes into the making of a true artist. She took her formal training under Kathak maestro Pandit Satya Narayana Charka ji.
In addition to regular dance classes and programs, the school also participates in many activities for the promotion of kathak dance form and cultural exchange.
Today Lathikaji will be joined by her adults batch of students - Anjana Chellam, Shilpi Mahajan, Anjali Bhatia, Pallavi Rao, Sapna Trivedi, and Parminder Thapar to perform a *kathak fusion piece* on a medley from the evergreen movie Pakeezah. This has been choreographed by Guru Lathikaji. 
East Meets West
Presenting A2Z Sounds' “East Meets West,” – a captivating musical fusion that harmoniously blends Eastern and Western worlds of music. Performed by our talented Bengali-American youth, this musical embraces the motherland and the homeland with mesmerizing harmonies that transcend cultural boundaries. 

This production is directed and arranged by Aratrika Dey, with co-direction by Shankhadip Chakraborty. Our vocalists include Aratrika Dey, Shankhadip Chakraborty, Rituraj Pramanik, Avyuday Choudhury, Aanshi Bose, Triyana Banerjee, and Aarushi Kuila. Our ensemble include Amit Das on tabla, Indrayan De on keyboards, Aishi Chell on clarinet and vocals, Sayanshuvra Chakraborty on saxophone and vocals, Soumyanil Jana on violin and vocals, along with Priyanshu Dasgupta on guitar.

Shonajhuri
Shonajhuri/সোনাঝুরি", the name says it all. Shonajhuri means a basket  made of gold and this golden basket has been glorified by 4 outstanding vocal artists of New Jersey. Jayashree SenMajumder, Bidisha Mukherjee, Joyee Chatterjee and Nupur Chatterjee formed a vocal music band to share, to cherish and to highlight the happiness that music brings to our life. Highly trained in classical music by esteemed Gurus and Gharanas, this fantastic 4, represent the true essence of versatility of Indian music from any genre. Sonajhuri is comprised with such remarkable vocalists who magnify  their dedication for music and in this  holiday event by Raag Rang, they will touch your hearts with the warmth and spirit of the holiday season and make the evening a memorable one. Our talented anchor is Ajanta Siddiqi.
